Earthquake Design Criteria

The Shire of Tammin is located within a defined earthquake zone. All new buildings must be engineer designed to meet the criteria set out in Australian Standard 1170 – Earthquake Loads.

The Shire of Tammin can assist with information relating to the design requirements once the type of construction is known.

Plans of buildings to be constructed are required to be submitted when construction is within the town-sites and additionally on farms for dwellings. Farm outbuildings are exempt from the requirements of a licence providing they are used solely for the purposes of farm storage and are not an office.
